Peppermint leaves that had been dried over 3,000 years ago were found in the inner chambers of Egyptian pyramids, and the leaves still retained their powerful aroma.

Peppermint got its name from Greek mythology.  The god Hades was having an affair with a nymph named Minthe.  When his wife found out, she turned Minthe into a common weed.  To soften Minthe’s fate, Hades gave her a sweet, calming scent to remind others of her presence.

Can peppermint be used for magical and spiritual cleansing?

Using peppermint as part of a magical or spiritual cleansing ritual or a cleansing session can help purify a space of negative energy and restore the positive vibrations of your aura.

Even if you remove yourself from a negative situation or environment, those negative energies you pick up will continue to weigh you down.

Because of its cleansing properties, peppermint is sometimes burned during funerary rites to help with the grieving process.

Many different cleansing rituals can be used that include peppermint which we don't have time to get into in this particular article.  I will be writing an article in the future that goes into great detail about different cleansing rituals. 

You can use a protection candle that has peppermint in it to help protect your space from bad juju, evil, and harmful thoughts.

But for now, if you want to keep it simple, just placing the leaves in an area can help cleanse that area.  Better yet, try diffusing peppermint essential oil in your diffuser to give the air a fresh and cleansed perspective.

Can peppermint increase clarity?

Peppermint has the magical ability to enhance your clarity.  To help promote clarity, once you have grounded and balanced your chakras, try rubbing peppermint oil (diluted in a carrier oil) on your third eye (known as the mind eye or the sixth chakra) in the middle of your forehead.  

Keep in mind that before you do this, you want to first make sure you have grounded your chakras because opening yourself up without a strong grounding can open you up to some spiritual problems.
