GENERAL INFORMATION FOR CINNAMON LEAF ORGANIC ESSENTIAL OIL:
Our Artisan Aromatics cinnamon leaf organic essential oil from Madagascar comes from the leaves of the cinnamon tree known as Cinnamomum zeylanicum. The tree can grow 20-30 feet but is cultivated as a bush. Luckily, the leaves can be harvested without damaging the tree.
Cinnamon is one of the most ancient aromatics used. The oil has been known to be more valuable than gold at times. In fact, wars have been fought over this particular species.
Cinnamon leaf organic essential oil usually has a lighter, less intense fragrance compared to cinnamon oil extracted from bark and the fragrance is not as long lasting. This essential oil has been extracted using steam distillation.
According to an invitro study in MDCD cells published by the US National library Of Medicine, Cinnamon leaf essential oil has the ability to kill some viruses related to Influenza, especially when used in conjunction with other essential oils such as Clove and Orange. Additional studies need to be conducted to see if this essential oil can kill influenza viruses under other circumstances.
